If you've been training hard and making progress but feel you need something more that your typical whey protein powder, you're probably right. A lot of dedicated athletes get to that point eventually. But when a meal replacement powder or weight gainer isn't what you need either, then what's left? BSN seems to have had that kind of customer and scenario in mind when they formulated SYNTHA-6. SYNTHA-6 is one of BSN's 3 proprietary protein blends and growing fast in popularity due to a number of great features and fantastic taste profile.
SYNTHA-6 gets its name from the 6 different protein and aminio acid sources used as the base of this formula: Whey Protein Concentrate, Micellar Alpha-and-Beta Caseins and Caseinates, Whey Protein Isolate, Egg Albumen, Calcium Caseinate and Milk Protein Concentrate. Each of these protein sources is useful and unique in its own right, but having them all in one product is ideal. One important benefit of that is that you can take advantage of the different absorption characteristics of each type, without having to buy and use separate protein supplements. By combining fast releasing whey proteins with slower releasing egg and casein proteins, you'll get a steady sustained delivery of protein to your muscles. This is preferable to large doses of whey protein which absorb quickly, so quickly that there is concern that it may not all be utilized. SYNTHA-6 has substantial amounts of whey but the other slower releasing proteins mean that you wont need or want another protein shake within just an hour or two of your whey shake.
Protein combinations like these are more often found in MRP's and weight gainers, but those products have a much heavier feel to them and their nutritional profile isn't what everyone is looking for. SYNTHA-6 has a light and very drinkable texture and none of the heaviness of a weight gainer or MRP shake. BSN has added digestive enzymes to SYNTHA-6 which helps avoid that heavy bloat which sometimes occurs when you consume a large serving of protein powder.
Although you'd never know it just by the taste and mouth feel, there is somehow 5 grams of fiber in SYNTHA-6, which is a huge plus. If there is one nutrient everyone can use more of, it's definitely fiber. That 5 grams is about 1/5 of your total minimum daily requirement for fiber in one scoop and will help to keep you satisfied if and when you need your SYNTHA-6 shake to hold you over until your next meal or shake.

| Details: I use the vanilla flavor with a banana, a little milk, and ice, and it makes a perfect protein smoothy. The flavors are all good by themselves as well. I've tried the chocolate and strawberry as well, and they are all much better tasting than other powders I've tried.

| Details: I use brewed coffee that I have cooled in my fridge instead of water and a few ice cubes with a smidge of 2% milk. Throw it into my blender and not only is the taste fantastic but its way better for you than any of those sugar & calorie ladden coffee house shakes. I love it!

| Details: If you're in the mood to change up your protein powder, I doubt you'd be disappointed with Syntha 6. I am always on the lookout for alternatives to the same old chocolate, vanilla strawberry, and the Syntha 6 Banana flavor is dynamite with some cold milk and half a ripe banana.
The 14 grams of carbs is higher than some protein powders and that might scare hardcore dieters off, but is still less than most protein bars.
