Strontium is found naturally in the human skeleton. The level of strontium in bone tissue is approximately 3.5% of the calcium content of bone. Strontium taken orally through the diet and from supplements is preferentially incorporated into the teeth and bones. Research suggests that the oral absorption of strontium is dependent on age and decreases with increasing age. Scientists have suggested two methods of absorption of strontium from the gastrointestinal tract: passive diffusion and carrier-mediated absorption. In adults, strontium is absorbed to a lesser extent than calcium, possibly due to the larger molecular size of strontium in comparison to the calcium molecule. Both calcium and strontium compete with one another for absorption in the intestines. High dietary intake of calcium has been shown to reduce concurrent absorption of strontium. It has been proposed that when both elements are present together, twice the amount of calcium is absorbed from the intestines in comparison with strontium.3

Take two capsules at the same time daily with or without food. Be sure to take at least the RDI of calcium and vitamin D3. Do not take this product at the same time as a calcium supplement, as these minerals may compete with each other for absorption. Best way to take your strontium is in the morning on an empty stomach as you will digest it quickly and you can then after one hour have your breakfast and take all your vitamins. Take the two caps at the same time. If you cannot swallow capsules please open capsule and put into apple sauce but not into any dairy products as the calcium in it will compete with the Strontium Bone Maker’s absorption.

Details: After being told by her doctor that she had bone loss in both hips and was well on her way to osteoporosis, I recommended Doctor's Best Strontium to my 76 year old mother. I had read several health articles about the bone building abilities of this special mineral, in addition to taking calcium, magnesium and D3. My mother started taking the Strongtium for several months, and she made sure to take Strontium separately from her calcium and other supplements so as not to interfere with the absorption of each. She returned to her doctor for another DEXA Scan, and was thrilled to be told that her bones tested in the normal range with no signs of bone loss! Strontium works, and I highly recommend it!
