Omega Seed Salvia hispanica L seeds naturally contain significant levels of omega fatty acids (typically >60 by weight). This is one of the higher percentages of Omega-3 from plant or vegetarian sources.
These nutrition packed seeds come from a desert plant that is a member of the mint family. In pre-Columbian times, Salvia hispanica L was a component of the Aztec and Mayan diets and the basic survival food of Aztec warriors. Known as "running food," these seeds were consumbed by the Aztecs for energy and endurance.
