excellent heat stable cooking oil

Apart from the health benefits of rice bran oil, it really performs as a multipurpose, mild-flavored cooking oil. While the health benefits are greatest when used unheated such as in salad dressings, unlike many healthy oils it's also an excellent high-heat, nonstick oil, and as such has become the base of my stir fry oil mix. Foods fried in this oil also come out lighter and less greasy. Although I often use coconut oil for baking because of the wonderful flavor, I have also used rice bran oil in muffins and brownies to good effect. It can absolutely replace canola or "crisco" type oils in the pantry. And as if that weren't enough, it's also softening and nourishing for the skin and offers a degree of protection from UV rays. Women in Japan have used it for centuries. It makes a nice carrier oil for essential oils and has a long shellf life fue to its natural E content. I'm a big fan of multipurpose staples like this. Allstarhealth makes this both convenient (RBO is often hard to find locally) and a good value.
