NOW SAMe 400 mg is such a versatile and powerful nutrient that it's like 3 or 4 separate supplements in one. SAMe is a natural amino acid metabolite that supports brain health and a good mood, cardiovascular health, joint comfort, and is a potent liver detoxification factor. SAMe is a supplement formed in the body by an enzymatic reaction between adenosine-triphosphate (ATP) and methionine. It was discovered in 1952 in Italy and has been researched and manufactured there. SAMe works closely with folic acid and vitamin B-12 and functions as a methyl donor. This nutrient carries and donates methyl molecules necessary to facilitate the manufacture of DNA and brain neurotransmitters. * Tissue levels of SAMe are typically low in the elderly.

By far the most important supplement!

I started taking SAMe for my depression as I have debilitating Fibromyalgia. Unknown to my knowledge it helped not only the depression but almost completely alleviated my Fibromyalgia as well as the Osteoarthritis in my knees. I can't find any documentation on the use of this supplement for Fibromyalgia but its the only thing that has worked for me and I've spent astronomical amounts of money on doctors, various treatments and medications to no avail. I'm very happy I tried this. I am taking 800mg every 6hrs and had 80% pain relief with the first dose. I still have bad days but this has really made my life worth living again. Thank you SAMMY. I take it with a sublingual B12/Folic Acid spray.

Best known for mood support, also great for joints and liver detox

SAMe is one of those supplements that has such diverse benefits and applications, health food stores never know where to put it. Mood support? It's one of the best supplements available for that. Liver detox? SAMe does that too. Joint support? SAMe is a terrific and fast-acting supplement for sore joints also. In fact, I was surprised how fast SAMe worked for my joint pain. My experience was to start with a high dose of 800 mg once every AM and PM decreasing that to 600 mg the next day, then 400 mg twice a day thereafter. I took the SAMe on an empty stomach. It is also important to take a B complex with SAMe, but remember to take the SAMe on an empty stomach but the B complex with solid food.
