Information About Andrographis
Andrographis, or Andrographis paniculata,
is an Asian plant sometimes referred to as "Indian echinacea" because, like echinacea, andrographis has been used historically as an herbal remedy to strengthen the body’s defenses especially against contagions like colds and flu.
In modern times andrographis is still used in this way both alone and in combination with other herbs such as eleuthero, licorice, and schizandra.

Andrographis is used whenever immune support is desired, often for colds, flu and minor respiratory illnesses.
One review of Andrographis studies published in 2004 found that andrographis extract outperforms a placebo for reducing cold symptoms.

Side-effects and Cautions
Andrographis use has not been associated with toxicity or side effects in human studies. Human Andrographis studies in which participants were monitored for changes in liver function, blood counts, kidney function, and other laboratory measures of toxicity did not reveal any problems.
Those with autoimmune conditions should only use Andrographis (or any potentially immune-stimulating supplement)on the advice of a health professional.
