Forskholii Supplements: Information

Coleus forskohlii (COAL-ee-us FORCE-cole-ee)is plant used since antiquity in Hindu and Ayurvedic traditional medicine and is the source of the compound forskolin. Forskolin affects one of the most important cell regulating compounds in the body: cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP.) Increasing cAMP levels may be responsible for forskolin's effects.

Forskholii's Health Benefits

Although not a stimulant, forskolin is used both alone and in thermogenic formulas for its beneficial effects on metabolism, thyroid function and fat oxidation. Coleus forskohlii may be better at preventing weight gain than promoting fat loss according to one study.¹ Forskolin may increase thyroid hormone production as well as stimulate thyroid hormone release (the thyroid gland is responsible for metabolic rate via the hormones it releases).
