Licorice is the root of the plant known botanically as Glycyrrhiza glabra. Licorice root has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for a wide range of purposes. In traditional Chinese medicine, licorice is always used included to harmonize the various ingredients in an herb formula.
