D-Mannose (500mg) Overview
D-Mannose is a simple sugar found naturally in some plants, fruits and berries. D-Mannose supplementation is used as a method of cleansing the urinary tract as well as eliminating toxins in the bladder. Body First provides a premium D-Mannose supplement that is easy to take and highly effective. *

D-Mannose is not easily metabolized by the body and therefore travels through the digestive process quite quickly, the majority being absorbed in the early stages of the gastrointestinal tract and the end result being excretion in the urine. D-Mannose is very effective at destroying E. coli bacteria and other known infection-causing bacteria. Unlike antibiotics, D-Mannose may actually improve conditions for intestinal flora and probiotics to flourish, creating a healthy environment for digestion and nutrient absorption. Supplementing with a premium source of D-Mannose is a great way to promote bladder and urinary tract health. *

D-Mannose (500mg) Description from Body First
D-Mannose is a simple sugar that occurs naturally in some plants, including cranberries. Although small amounts of D-Mannose are metabolized by the human body, much of it is rapidly excreted in the urine. In the bladder, D-Mannose can adhere to bacterial lectins, preventing them from sticking to the lining of the bladder. Bacteria can then be flushed away during urination, thereby precluding the formation of colonies within the urinary tract. Because insubstantial amounts of D-Mannose are used by the body, it does not interfere with blood sugar regulation. D-Mannose does not kill bacteria. Please see a health care professional if you have an infection.

Helps keeps infections from starting

I have chronic urinary/kidney reflux issues, am susceptible to UTIs urinary track infections, and have taken Macrodantin daily since I was a child to try to keep the E.coli bacteria from taking hold in my bladder. Before discovering D-Mannose, I would get several UTIs a year and switch to either Bactrim or Levaquin to cure the infection. Since being introduced to D-Mannose a few years ago by a friend who also has bladder issues, my infections have drastically reduced to 1-2/year. This cannot be a coincidence; I believe the D-Mannose is the reason I have less UTIs. I take a daily maintenance dose of 2, and when I feel an infection starting, I increase the D-Mannose to 2 pills every 3 hours, either mixed with water or cranberry juice. It works either way. This is a fantastic product. My urologist is happy with how healthy I have been since starting D-Mannose. He wasnt entirely versed in it but had heard enough about it to give me his ok. I am so happy to have found this product. My only complaint is that I didnt know of it years ago when I really needed it.
