So, I'm always on the lookout for bargain proteins and thought this one was a dream find. I mean, who could beat 10lb for $87?! Well, after using this protein for a few weeks I started to notice one of my eyes getting very blurry. I went to the eye doctor and they told me there was fluid under my retina. He asked me a battery of questions that he thought might be the culprit, but nothing turned up. UNTIL...he asked if I take protein supplements. I told him I did and that I had been using a new brand (BodyStrong). He told me that some protein powders have something in them that will cause this issue to happen with people's eyes. He had seen it in other athletes.
Sure enough, I stopped taking the protein and within the week my eye sight was back to normal and has been perfect ever since. And that happened a few years ago. I just ran across this protein again today and remembered that story and thought I'd share. I've taken other proteins since and haven't had any issues.
BodyStrong 10 lbs. Whey Protein
Got the big batch of Vanilla and not particularly impressed. Not a great taste or bad taste as I have tried a few different brands. Can taste the artificial sweetner in it. I could honestly take it or leave it, but wouldn't order the 10 pound size of anything without trying it first.
We have been buying the whey protein isolate natural chocolate for 7+ years, and it was great. Our last shipment in November 2019 is a different formula. The powder is lighter in color, does not mix very well into water or coffee, and does not taste very good. We are now shopping for a new protein powder.
Isoloate Simple Yum
Great Simple Isolate, low fat, high protein per scoop. Mixes well 2 scoop in standard mixer bottle. Mixes clean. Taste is exactly like swiss miss chocolate marshmallow flavor. I saw one mention bloated, but I actually say sit very light leaves u open for another meal in 30m to 2hours depending on prior fullness.
Overall taste great and has a high protein content at a really good cost value per scoop.
I doubt the ingredients are listed.
I've used lots of WPI and this one caught my attention for the description of being WPI without Acesulfame K, Sucralose and all the junks. However there is an emulsifier on it that will double the volume and it is making me bloated with it, unlike the NOW WPI. But this BodyStrong WPI sure doesn't seem to match its ingredients description in my opinion.
