Excellent to chill out
One of the only gaba products that will cross the blood brain barrier. It works with no side effects. It will calm you down after a tough day.
Good for excellent sleep. Needs to be in 250 Mg size however. Its the most effective dose. This bottle is actually 100Mg. per tablet but you have to take 2.
Works better than capsules
These are really good for relaxation and sleep. If needed to wind down or feeling tense or stiff, take about 30 minutes prior to sleep and you will sleep well. The capsules worked well, but these lozenges are even better. I recommend this product. One does the trick.
*****PHARMAGABA. Relives torticollis in shoulders & neck, plus prevents agonizing headaches
I have severe cervical dysplasia--chronic spasms in my shoulders and back of my neck (also called cervical torticollis). I then develop agonizing tension headaches and have to stay in bed, barely moving because it is so painful.
The only successful treatments for me have been regular injections of MyoBloc (botulinum type B) every 3 months, plus an effective mucscle relaxer (Robaxen, valium, Zanaflex, etc.) between the injections.
I searched for treatment options everywhere, including MedLine articles, and everything I could find on the Internet.
One mechanism of action for 2 of the most effective treatment for cervical dystonia--benzodizapines (e.g. diazepam, altrazelam) and a drug called baclofen--is how they maintain and increase brain levels of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).
As I walked in my neighboorhood Whole Foods store to see if any of their nutrition supplements might help, the first thing I saw, literally, was a display with Natural Factors PharmGABA chewable tablets.
The sales representative explained GABA smoothes out muscle spams. She said that the chewable lozenges (with a refreshing orange and tangerine flavor) are meant to be slowly dissolved in the mouth. The effective compounds from this GABA supplement are absorbed through the oral mucosa.
Undeterred by the $30 price, I bought a bottle.
At noon, I slowly chewed 2 lozenges, letting the pieces melt, then read as book while the lozenges dissolved. I took a nap around 1:30, then woke up at 3 p.m. My muscles were tender and sore, but there were no spasms, and that hard knot on my back netween my shoulder bldes was almost gone.
For a day or too, I felt like I was recovering from a boxing match; I had not realized how strong the spasms had been. I felt much better.
I have ordered more pharmaGABA on the Internet because the wholefoods store has run out, and the price if more than half of what Whole Foods charges, in addition to city and sales taxes
I will only buy Canadian products because there is a government agency in Canada that has the authority to make sure that "neutraceutical" manufacturers produce clean, wholesome, safe products in accordance with international good manufacturing practices.
As noted on the bottle "All Natural Factors Products are manufactured in accordance with the Government of Canada's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), among the highest standrads in the world."
