African Black Soap Description from Alaffia
What is African Black Soap?

In West Africa, authentic black soap is known by its Yoruba name, Osse Dudu. "Dudu" means the color black, which comes from the extensive "cooking" of the soap to the point of charcoal. Many cultures in West Africa use charcoal to detoxify and purify the skin, and this is an integral aspect of our true African black soap.

Our authentic black soap is made from a centuries old recipe of handcrafted shea butter and indigenous West African palm kernel oil. Saponification is provided by adding ashes to the hot oils, then cooking the soap for six hours. The final step is to dry and cure the soap in the sun for three weeks.

The extensive cooking and curing process makes our authentic African black soap mild and gentle. In West Africa, our black soap is an "all in one" option for cleaning, and is ideal for faces, shaving, shampooing, and as a general hand & body wash for all ages. Scented with a clarifying blend of citrus essential oils.

African Mint (Ocimum canum) Extract (Aqueous), African Black Soap (Saponified Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) and Palm Kernel Oil (Elaeis guineensis)), Lauryl Glucoside (Coconut), Tangerine Essential Oil, Orange Essential Oil, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Litsea Essential Oil

Definitely need a loofah.

So loose on my palms as I lather, but a good all-around soap. Many thanks to Allstarhealth. Later.

Love it!

I love this shampoo! Works great for my newly developing dreads. Super clean without all added ingredients that damage your hair... and quite frankly... are so incredibly bad for your health. Highly recommended.

Best Black Soap

Like Alaffia African Black Soap Tangerine Citrus has nice natural scent but does not linger on your skin like most products cleans your face great and body but not so good for hair as tends to dry out.

Love this!

The smell is great, and I love being able to use just one soap instead of the usual collection of shampoos, body washes, and shaving cream. Definitely an enjoyable product.

I love this product and will never buy another body soap, shaving gel, shampoo and facial soap or lotion again. Before using Alaffia African Black Soap my skin was rough and dry. I have tried so many products to moisturize my skin and to make it soft and nothing has ever worked. After trying African Black Soap just one time my skin was smooth, soft and moisturizer, like a baby. My children are African American and have very course curly hair, I used the soap in their hair and their hair became soft and shiny. It is gentle enough to use on your face and is great for shaving. I even use it to remove my eye makeup. Alaffia African Black Soap is a must buy.
