Warning: Jarrow Changed the Formula
I've been using this product for years, but recently they changed the formula from a "Free Base" to a "Hydrocloride" (HCL) base. Hydrocloride means Hydorocloric acid! See statement below that I received from their customer service rep. I used to chew the tablets, but not anymore. The HCL is so strong it burned my tongue. When I swallow the tablet it burns the lining of my stomach. There should be a warning on the label. Jarrow offered to replace the 2 bottles I bought from Allstar Health, but told me the new bottles would be manufactured with the HCL base which means I would be trading like for like. They apologized, but that still left me with two unusable bottles of their product. Allstar should probably issue a warning to anyone purchasing this product. Clip from Jarrow's email is below:
"For several of the Arginine batches, we used arginine free base, instead of arginine hydrochloride. We subsequently returned to the arginine hydrochloride form"
1 gram arginine tablets, easy to take the gram doses I use
I don't use any NO products anymore. Instead I've gone back to basics and am just using L-arginine, Not the expensive multi-arginine blends. Most of what we know about the benefits of supplemental arginine we know from studies of L-arginine, not the altered forms. It works, and its inexpensive and I like being able to take a substantial dose with just a few tablets, not a handful of gelatin caps.
I take NOW nattokinase along with the Jarrow arginine as my "circulation stack".
