Best EPA/DHA blend, safe, and well scienced product!

After doing thorough research, I was looking for the perfect blend of EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids for daily intake. Most studies indicate that a ration of 3:2 EPA to DHA is the perfect blend, and that at least 500mg should be consumed total daily. So when I looked for a product with that ratio - I found Nature Made fit the bill perfectly. A lot of "bargain" fish oil products will not break down EPA and DHA, and only give a total Omega-3 fatty acid content. I was willing to pay a little more to ensure that I was getting the right ratio, and that the science was solid. But was it safe? One of my concerns was contaminated fish oils. The Environmental Defense Fund EDF has an online listing of dozens of brands of fish oil, with a rating that reflects the amount of contaminants like mercury and dioxins that are in the product. Nature Made fish oil made the "Best Choice" level. I also appreciated that the Nature Made Fish Oil states the source - anchovies, sardines, and mackerel - whereas many brands do not state the source, probably because some species of fish are known to have high levels of contaminants. That was all I needed. I have taken this product for a few years daily, and rarely, if ever get the fishy burps. Usually only when I forget to take my Nexium.
