Borage Oil (240mg GLA) Overview
Each softgel of NOW Borage Oil provides 240mg of the essential fatty acid Gamma Linolenic Acid, GLA. Essential fatty acids or EFAs are a type nutrient that your body needs but can't produce on its own. GLA can be produced using the fairly common fatty acid Linoleic acid, but your body uses pure GLA much more efficiently. Certain health conditions, as well as old age, can lead to GLA deficiency even if Linoleic acid is consumed in healthy levels.
Borage Oil is one of the richest sources of GLA available, and it also provides Linoleic acid. Maintaining a healthy GLA level supports skin and hair health and can lower inflammation. Increase GLA as well as healthy polyunsaturated fats in your diet with NOW Borage Oil.
Borage Oil (240mg GLA) Description from Now
Borage Oil is a nutritional oil containing over 80% polyunsaturated fats. Linoleic acid and Gamma Linoleic acid (GLA) are enhanced essential fatty acids. Although the body can manufacture GLA from dietary linoleic acid, it can be more efficiently utilized for body functions when supplied directly by dietary source. Borage Oil is a more concentrated source of GLA than Evening Primrose Oil (EPO). One Borage Oil capsule is equilvalent to about 5 standard EPO capsules in GLA content.
