Stevia Extract Overview

Here's a great alternative to sugar, honey or other high-calorie sweeteners, an 'herbal sweetener' that has zero-calories but tastes sweet. Stevia extract is a natural product, requiring only minimal processing from South American Stevia rebaudiana plants cultivated for this purpose. Stevia extract is sweet but also has a subtle, characteristic flavor that makes it better-suited for some foods and drinks than others. NOW Stevia Extract is terrific in hot or iced tea, and many baking recipes that combine spice and sweetness, like gingerbread and pumpkin pie. Stevia doesn't work as well with bitter/sour tastes so it's not what you want for your coffee or lemon meringue pie. For those recipes we recommend NOW Xylitol. There are many types of stevia products on the market, mainly in liquid and powder form. The quality is highly variable, however. Stevia extracts, like this one from NOW Foods, are definitely the way to go because non-extract products aren't as consistent and the licorice-like stevia taste is much stronger.

Best Liquid Stevia EVER

The NOW brand Stevia is the best we have ever used. No funny after taste and unlike powder stevia, this stirs into any liquid or solid without sitting on top. Also, this site has the best price around, I know this because I price check this product all the time. Amazon Prime cant even beat their price, even with free shipping this site still beats them. Thanks All Star Health for carrying this product.

Now brand Stevia Extract "original"

I prefer this product because of the taste and have been using it for many years, but it has been watered down a lot in the last couple of years.

Good but Weak

I find the serving size of 4 drops to be highly innacurate. I've used other brands where a few drops were adequate and any more became bitter. With this one I actually have to pour it into my drinks! However, the taste is fine and it's cheaper so I still buy it. (Not sure it's actually cheaper when you take into account the pouring-instead-of-dropping, though.)

Liquid Stevia

Works great. Very sweet and concentrated. No bad aftertaste. Much cheaper than smaller bottles offered locally. I saved a small bottle with dropper and I refill it using this 8 oz. size.

Bitter batch this time

This is usually a reliable brand, but Im only giving 2 stars because the quality is significantly inferior to other bottles Ive purchased. Ive used liquid Stevia for over 20 years to sweeten morning oatmeal, lemonade, iced tea, etc. I purchased 6 bottles of this 8-oz size and got a poor batch. The two bottles Ive opened are slightly bitter compared to the last batch of the same product I purchased several years ago. Therefore, I dont recommend purchasing large batches of this. It never occurred to me that some batches might be of different quality, but I suppose its all based on the origin and quality of the raw product and the company must have to source from different vendors/locations.
