Health Benefits of Chaste Berry (Vitex)

Vitex' long history of use as a medicinal herb is most closely associated with the male and female reproductive systems, where it is considered to have both tonifying (strengthening) and regulating effects. Vitex has been also used to promote libido in both sexes and is a commonly included in many sexual health formulas. Researched uses for chaste berry include support for PMS-symptoms1 and menopause.2 Flavonoid glycosides are among the probable active ingredients in chaste berry. Research has shown that extracts of these compounds affect hormone levels.3
